First Things First
|
These instructions assume you:
1. have an account with Fastmail, 2. have an account with a web host, 3. know how to transload, and 4. know how to attach audio clips to e-mail. |
| There are two methods to extract transloadable URLs for wav audio captures. The Fastmail method processes wav email attachments. The Expanding Head method enables the direct creation of a transloadable wav file. No email attachment is involved. |
I. Fastmail Website Method

1. Turn off sig and send or forward an e-mail with a wav attachment to your Fastmail account.
2. Login to your Fastmail account. Here is a Logins tool. 3. Open the email and at the bottom check the box next to the attachment and click the "Save selected attachments" link. 4. Return to "Mailbox" and click the "Files" link at the top. 5. Click the "Action" dropdown menu and select "Create Subfolder". Type wavs in the "New folder name" field and click "Do". 6. Now check the box by the wav attachment in "My Files" and then click the « button next to "wavs". 7. Click the "Websites" button and do only these steps. Leave all else alone. For "Website" put wavs in the field following the /. For "File Storage Target" select ".wavs" on the dropdown. Click "Create Website". 8. That's it! Click the link for the page you created. It will have the form "http://yourusername.fastmail.fm/wavs". Click the link for the wav on the page and CCP the url from the keyboard "Go To - Show Last" field. Transload to your web host. |
1. First, a sound source must be supplied from a video tape, mic, or camcorder. Refer below for more information.
2. Open the Audio Capture Utility and cursor over the mic icon.
3. Start the sound source and click the mic icon. Add the sound as you would to an email.
4. Name the wav and click "Upload". You will be taken to a results page. Click the "back" link.
5. Reload the page and the uploaded wav file name and extension will be seen under "Files to Download".
6. Click that link for your wav and, while it plays, grab the URL off the "Go To - Show Last" field.
7. Transload the wav to your own server. Do not link to the URL provided by the utility.
This free service is offered by Robert Wedge. It will directly provide a transloadable url for wavs we make ourselves.
