A sound can play when an image, button, or text is "moused", i.e. cursored over or off. Mouse over the gif below and the "Mickey Mouse Club March" plays; mouse off and the "Itchy and Scratchy" midi starts. The image is not a hot link in this example.

Mouse over the off air gif and a small stopper file kills the music.

Mouse over the Stand By gif and the midi restarts.

Images, buttons, or text with mouseover sound can be hot links clickable to a destination site or a different section of the same page, i.e. target linking. The audio files should be small for fast-loading. Here are two examples using text links.

The mouse over sound link can be a form button. The code differs, using onfocus instead of onmouseover. Click the Source Code button for details.

The code is simple. The name given the sound file (in this case "beep") links the sound to the mouseover command. Most any name can be used1.

An image file was used for the link in the code above. But font text could be used for the link or a form button. Study the source code to see the details.

Does not work in sigs. Web pages only!
